Empowered To Impact (Youth Rally T&T)

The Open Bible Standard Churches of Trinidad and Tobago Incorporated held its 54th Annual National Convention from Thursday 24th – Sunday 27th April 2008. It featured two truly dynamic and anointed speakers; Pastor Mosa Sono and Pastor Miles Mc Pherson. I am at lost for words to describe these dynamic men of God so I will use that internationally known, self explanatory word to encompass all that I am trying to say, WOW! I would have to Write five more Articles before I could truly portray in the readers minds the kind of Convention that we had. It was truly powerful and many souls came to the Lord. Give the Lord a clap offering! It is only through his anointing and direction that these souls were won for Jesus Christ.
Today though I would just like to talk about one of the days of our convention, and more specifically about one of the speakers, the man they call Pastor Miles McPherson. At first glance he doesn’t look like a preacher; he is about 6 feet tall, athletic built, charming personality and a broad smile. He is a man who has played professional football in the NFL, has done drugs, has been to the parties, slept around with the girls, in other words he has been there done that. But what I found most intriguing about this Man of God, was his unique ability to draw young people, and not just to draw them, but to hold their attention. Now, we all know that as much as we try to be good Christian youths and stay up and listen to the Pastors preaching, we don’t always win that battle and from time to time we find ourselves wandering off to dream land, while we dribble on our neighbor’s shoulders. Don’t lie! Even I have done it, but Pastor Miles has a gift that even those with severe cases of A.D.D. couldn’t deny.
Imagine the setting, the First Church of the Open Bible located in Trinidad and Tobago with a seating capacity for about 2000 people, filled to the point where we had kids outside in the car park praying to get a seat. The rally started at 1:00pm and before you knew it the church was filled. We had acts like EDM, Keturah Dance group from the First Church of the Open Bible holding it down doing the “BANGLE BODOGLE”, (for those of you who aren’t familiar with the Trini-Dancehall Scene, that is a dance coming out from an artiste named Antus Keith, check out the MySpace page, the youth doing some really good stuff if I might say) we had Drama and much, much more! Oh yeah! Stitchie was there to, so you know fuh sure the rally sell off!
As Pastor Miles walked on to the stage to start his sermon, he briefly shared on his Ministry and he took the time to testify to the young people about his Salvation. After he testified, he started his sermon with a very daring statement. He said to the 2000 plus youths who were crammed into the Church, “I am going to teach the young men how to get the ladies to BOW at their feet”, the ladies squealed in opposition, while the fellas cheered. He then turned to the ladies and said “I am going to teach the ladies how to get the man of your dreams to do ANYTHING you want”, the fellas strongly opposed while the ladies laughed and blushed. Pause! Yes, he actually said that, I was lost for words, so I didn’t know what to do. Then he looked at the 2000 plus youths and said, “Everything I have just told you, is in the bible”, he then proceeded to preach on the story of Ruth and Boaz. Pause again! If you don’t know the story then it means you haven’t been reading your Bible. But anyway, for those of you who don’t know the story, it basically goes blaah! blaah! blaah!, read your bible, it’s in the book of Ruth. Anyway, at the end of the sermon he made a call for youths who wanted to be restored sexual; for those who had been violated and for those who had fallen, and about 100 young people responded. He then made a call for those who wanted to receive the gift of Salvation and close to thirty young people responded (based on my estimates). After he finished preaching, I was amazed at his ability to engage the entire multitude of youths and make each individual feel as though he was having a one on one conversation with them. He truly blessed and ministered to the lives of the 2000 plus youths who were there, so on behalf of all the youths, we say THANK YOU! I didn’t get to do it in person though, cause after Stitchie perform, we had to go and check our sound equipment, the man abused our equipment, I mean really abused our speakers, for a whole HOUR! But that is nothing; he could do that anytime he want.
As I said earlier, WOW! Stitchie walks on stage, all the young people run up to the front and the praise and worship in Dance, Song and so forth starts. Sell off! If you weren’t there and you living in Trinidad, Shame on you! Shame on you! Shame on you! But, if you wasn’t there, and you are not from Trinidad, then that’s Ok, I had a great time in the lord for all of you all.
Anyway, I thought I would give the Jamaican massive a heads up, cause Miles McPherson is in Jamaica right now, his website is www.milesahead.com; check out the website for more info on where exactly he would be in Jamaica.
Christian soldiers, be encouraged in the Lord and in the Power of his might! Bless my youths!

That is sooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!!!! I am a member of one of the churches of the Jamaican Open Bible Standard of Churches ( I atten Miracle Open Bible in St.Catherine), I even attend the bible school. Its soooo good to know that the same effectual work being down here in Jamaica is being down at such magnitudes at our sister group of churches in TT. My aunt attend an Open Bible Church there too and I’ve been looking forward to going to TT to see worship Open Bible TT style :)!But truly though God is awesome. The Convention sounded I great, and I am saddened to have missed it!Here in JA though, we just had Pasor McPherson, we had a great Gospel festival and crusade but he ministered in at a location outside of the one I was designated to work at the festival.I read his bio online though, he has been through it, but God has rescued him. His bio alone, can save hearts just seeing how God can transform a life to wholeness and tru purpose for His glory!
Great reading your article! All the best in TT from your Open Bible family here in JA!!
