Ryan Mark-’Tabernacle’ Album Launch Review

‘Better Late Than Never’
You know that saying ‘Better late than never’? Well it definitely proved true on Friday, March 28, 2008 when some patrons including yours truly entered the Tabernacle 2hrs after the slated 7:00pm start. Yes we were late!
The occasion was the launch of Ryan Mark’s a.k.a the Chosen Prodigy’s second album, ‘Tabernacle’, at the Swallow field Chapel. Just by looking on from the outside it was obvious that this was the place to be.
Part 1- Baby Ruth Reynolds Foundation
Regrettably, we were informed that we missed the very emotionally charged launch of the Baby Ruth Reynolds Foundation. The foundation was launched by the artiste of the night Ryan Mark and his wife Dawnette ‘Crissy D’ Reynolds in memory of their daughter Ruth Reynolds who was born prematurely and died a few days after, due to inadequate equipment to handle such births in Jamaica. In addition to sensitizing the public to this need, the foundation seeks to raise money to purchase the necessary equipment for babies born prematurely at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital (where their daughter died) and the Bustamante Children’s Hospital.
Part 2- Comedy Bus???
Don’t for one second however, believe that it was a time of mourning and boo hoos. Not so! On hand were MCs Alecia Moulton (from CVM at Sunrise) and Denise Hunt (Host of Digicel’s Rising Stars) to help set the comedic atmosphere. In fact by the time I actually settled down from all the excitement of entering the Tabernacle, my excitement levels rose again as we were treated to a mildly humorous mini-play followed by an extremely hilarious tribute by none other than the Prodigy’s ‘bigga bredda’ the Minister Goddy-Goddy. The recently ordained pastor had the audience literally bursting at the seams, with laughter, at the wise cracks he concocted as a tribute to his ‘likkle bredda’. The Tabernacle was really filled from top to bottom with joy and laughter.
Highlights of the Night
There were undoubtedly more than a few crowd favourites from the 15 track album, as songs such as Weep, Cry, Tabernacle and See Them a Come done with Jason Mighty, drove patrons out of their seats. What stood out for many was his stellar performance of ‘Take Me There’ with wife Crissy D and hit song ‘Right with You’ which ushered many ‘right’ into the presence of God.
Cut Above the Rest
What more can I say, but kudos to the planners, sponsors and organizers of this event? Unlike some album launches previously attended, even after arriving late, there was secure, adequate parking and seating for the droves that turned out to enter the Tabernacle. It was a wonderful time of praise and worship to God and celebration of His goodness in the Tabernacle. Added to the line up for the night, one could not help but see that this one was certainly a cut above the rest. Bless God.
The night’s sponsors included Love 101, Welch’s, WATA, Quality Flooring and others.
