Blame it on Rodman…
You remember Dennis Rodman? This is the first thing that came to mind while brainstorming for a topic… But seriously this guy says it quite good in his post about who we have to blame. People have not rejected basketball because of the actions (and antics) of Rodman, so why would you reject Christianity because of how some christians operate?
Let’s face it. There are a lot of people who call themselves Christians who are really bad advertisements for Christianity. Be that as it may, the same can be said for every area of life from sports, to politics, to medicine, to law that are really bad examples. And we don’t judge the credibility of an entire worldview or philosophy on the basis of how poorly some people practice them.To reject Christianity just because there are some really sick people who claim to be Christian would be as dumb as seeing sick people in a hospital and refusing to believe that anyone walks out healthy. If you’re considering the claims of Jesus Christ, consider just that: the person of Jesus, what he says, and what he offers. While there are many who follow Jesus imperfectly, you should have seen us when he found us. We’re not perfect, but we are making progress.
So who are you going to blame?

So true… I encounter the same and it so bewilders me as to why this is not clear. However, what do you say about the church’s responsibilities with regards to representation of the actual rules and consequences for contrary actions… and I mean those things that attack the issue and not the person and not rejecting the vessel.
But preach yah Stephen! We shall lead the charge in representing what the undiluted word of God intends for God’s people, reminding them that this is not about the four walls but the actual church of Jesus Christ!
