I voted… and it feels good!
Yes guys after months of campaigning and millions spent on newspaper, radio and television ads, the election day has finally come. Today we will see what happens to the future of Jamaica!
For me the feeling is great! Just great. Splendid. I didnt know that there would be a feeling attached to voting. Or probably the feeling is for first time voters but while i was voting and as soon as i was finished a number of things went through my mind. My body was like hot and cold and i felt like i was playing my part in the democratic process. If i was allowed I would have probably just made one big shout…to let off some steam!
Imagine going in the polling station, finding your name on the list, getting your paper and being told to go behind the box and mark your X. Imagine being behind the screen and knowing that your X will determine the future of Jamaica, my children and yours. Man this is a great feeling. I cant really tell what other feeling comes close to this. Not even… well yeah nothing i can think of comes close to this.
While there, even though before going to the polling station i had already decided, i was thinking…hmmm Independent, PNP or JLP, and then something inside started saying com’on Stephen give the Independent a chance. I thought, then i thought, then i marked my X with the pencil, folded the paper and handed the paper back to the lady. I dipped my finger in the ink, and then i left. That is when i felt absolutely proud of myself, as i emerged from the room, knowing that i voted. Yes ppl mi vote.
I voted guys and it feels good!!

Stephen, sounds as if you’ve had an ineffable experience as a first time voter!
For a while, let’s borrow the words Peter used to describe an emotion which the Gospel of grace produce in us. Hmmm…Let’s sing it…
“It’s joy unspeakable full of glory,
Full of glory, full of glory
Joy unspeakable n’ full of glory
Half has never yet been told.”
1Peter 1:3-9….

Mapu…bwai, S, yu no gwai wash da hand eh eee? Mi glad fi yu…
You know what KayC?…a Psalm blessed me today…Psalm 96. I posted it on this site earlier today. Man, it gave me an extra desire to preach Jesus to the nations…How can they praise God if they do not know Jesus?… O, sovereign Lord, glorify your name amongst the nations! Show yourself to be great amongst men women and children of every nation, tribe, and language…
“Sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord! Praise his name!
Announce every day how he delivers!
Tell the nations about his splendor!
Tell all the nations about his amazing deeds!…”
May Jamaicans do the same…

Wow i thought i was the only one who felt that way. Unfortunately for me i didn’t get the full experience as there were no ’sights’ or ’sounds’ associated with the voting crowd. As an EOJ worker i voted on the Tuesday with no crowd in sight. I felt so proud though, my first time actively participating in the major decision making process of my country. I voted!
