Jovan Richards

As a young boy growing up I was introduced to Christianity by my parents. At the age of 8 in 1997 I could finally make my own decision that I wold love to accept the Lord into my heart. Though I started out on a good path the enemy tried and tried to overcome me from my walk with the Lord.
High School and the Rastafarian Movement
At high school in grades 7 through to 8 I continued with my commitment in Christ, At grade 9 my walk with God was fallen into the hands of the enemy. I saw myself in a state of listening dancehall, hip hop and reggae Music to the limit. The one thing no man did. My walk and talk was not saying yes to Jesus at all but unkind words started growing apart of me.
I even found myself worshiping Vybz Kartel and 50 cent. I even started singing their songs in church especially when the pastor was preaching. At grade 10 I found myself in a crew called the “Krazy Family.” Loitering in the back of the bus park was my biggest hobby. In grade 11 it became worst as I wanted to be apart of the Rastafarian movement and my talk became all about Hallie Selassie and even read the book of Enoch and the Maccabees trying to grow into their culture.
I even followed some other guys at school giving some grade 7s (lower school) $20 to buy three patties (which each cost around $50 each). At that time I had a girlfriend. She was a Christian and kept on telling me that I needed to change my ways. I never listened.
Drowning and Turning
After graduating from high school I thought I could live my life on my own but God proved me wrong. I went on a youth fellowship trip that same year and I nearly lost my life drowning. My girlfriend told me that it was because I didn’t love the Lord anymore. Thanks be to Him that in August at my church at the youth crusade He spoke to me in a message and today I am rejoicing for his saving grace unto me everyday.
Now he gets “sweeter and sweeter” as the days go by.
