Exodus 2k7-A definite success!
Prior calls to the Fel. Tab. Grounds revealed that activities were buzzing from even before 3pm.
On arrival to the venue around 7:30pm no signs were present to guide the EXODUS vehicular traffic to the Webster Memorial car park and most drove up only to be turned back by a few clad in white shirts branding the EXODUS logo in bright neon colours. Except, the lack of appropriate signs did not stop there. There was nothing indicating to patrons where to go whether or not they had tickets and once again a man could be seen verbally informing almost every patron that came on the scene.
Nevertheless from the look of things on the outside the event was well-sponsored. With adequate fencing put in place to cover the far entrance of the venue not in use while the other entrance sited the ticket truck displaying a well designed EXODUS banner and tight security. Inside revealed more novelties such as a huge blown-up tropical rhythms bottle, tents with reggae jammin chicken, professionally lit stage, high-tech sound system and a large flat screen for close viewing.
However, the show co-hosted by both Olecia Wedderburn from the LOVE101 family & Marshy Redz of Prayz House & Megajamz 98FM did not get off to the 7pm start due to technical difficulties even still being experienced when the show commenced about 7:30pm with Melodies leading the half full venue to praise and worship.
After melodiously delivering the task at hand the widely publicised Nikko and Proverbs took the stage followed the not-so familiar face of overseas artiste Dahlia Ashley. As usual, Chosen Vessel was not to be left out dominating the stage clad in black & soldier print outfits leading praise with high energy soca-style.
The hour designated for praise ended and it was time for the new artistes featuring the likes of a young man who has been around for some time now called J.Lee who certainly was received by the crowd and by now it really was a crowd with no visible empty spaces. J.Cee also lead singer for Dj Nicholas’ On The Shout band graced the stage in her boots with back-up singers starting with her vibrant new singjay “Nah Fi Run” only to be ushered off due to technical difficulties once more. But that was not to faze the group as they returned with another promising soon-to-be released track entitled “No”.

As Olecia made introductions for a former Katalys lead singer, I am certain most screamed thinking it was Jai. Nonetheless, Kareem was not to be greeted any less as he came on in white and dark shades beginning with a Katalys song and followed suit with “Wave Yuh Hands” featuring D.A.Jay amongst an ecstatic audience.
Time was short and it was time to reminisce God’s grace of taking us from “Brokenness to Victory” with Mr. Gallimore. Immediately after it was the newly wed Jason Mighty on his first major show in Jamaica since Recharge of last year. If one thought he was well received then one can fast-forward to later that night.
Except, it was time for Judith Gayle’s set which got off to a wonderful start with Broken to be Blessed. Judith even found time to insert a Spanish translation in her set only to return to the stage after an encore followed by an interview with Olecia on stage.
It was now time for the tall man, the handsome young Prodigy whose marriage to Crissy D came to fruition this year after the hit “I Love You Lord”. Ryan fully clad in black delivered impressively as with Fun In the Son reeling hit after hit including “Tell Him No”, “God Have Mi Back”, “Alpha & Omega”, “Depart I Know You Not” and closing with much anticipated “The Counsellor”.
After a short intermission it was the occasion for the fourth and last female act for the night, the renowned Carlene Davis and associates. Nothing extraordinary where ministry concerned but that did not hinder a “dancing sing-along” crowd.

It was past 11pm and the Prodigal Son was “welcomed home” not short of fashion statements with his entourage displaying old school wear and the bigger man in a pink and black striped three piece suit with shiny pointed shoes. Upon entering to a rendition of an old hymn, Prody launched into several hits including “Worldchanger”, “Journey” and of course “Ketch A Fire” where his brother Mighty joined him on the stage much to the delight of the crowd who continued their waving frenzy. However, this was not all that the Prodigal or should I say God desired as he stopped to enlighten the crowd of the rising abortion rates and the presence of a Satanic Church in the island among other things. Prodigal left the stage singing one of his new songs on his upcoming album.
As it drew nearer to 12am the need for a Closer Walk was felt and Jermaine Edwards was the man of God on stage in a brown jewelled jacket commencing with “Your Love” followed by “You Deserve All The Glory”, “Radical Youths”, “I Need Thee Oh” and closing with another favourite“ Oh Jesus” playing the keys himself.
It was drawing nigh to what seemed like a 1am close when one of the two brainchilds of the concert, Moses, took the stage with “Exodus”. Mo Mo then saw it fitting to give God the praise with an effervescent crowd backing him on “Big Him Up”, “Pray” and “God Clap”. Ministering with “Salvation Story”, “Feels It Knows It” and finally his well-heard Testimony “Testify”.
Last but definitely not the least was the Rev. Dj Nicholas who continued the tradition of back-ups leading the opening song for his on-stage entrance. The moment the crowd had been waiting for was suddenly upon them and all the ‘God men and women’ jumped and sang along to “God man” and “Barrier”. Once more the familiar trio of dancers took the stage performing Back 2 D Owner with acrobatics and high-energy. Nicholas launched into “Pop off The Word” followed by a new song which he insisted was to be done more slowly so his audience could partake. It was back to the favourites when the dancers returned with “Pop Off The Word” and “Dis Time”.

Nicholas was not to exit the stage without sharing his testimonies including that of his father’s recent death and his mother’s earlier stroke. The crowd was led to close their eyes and talk to God with another new song “He That Dwelleth”.
It was now after 1am and the event that was on everyone’s lips and ears for the past three weeks had now come to a conclusion. For the final time, Olecia took the stage inviting Dj Nicholas and Moses back on to thank them for EXODUS- a vision now realized with God’s help, ardent supporters and many sponsorships. A final prayer was said by an invited minister and the crowd dispersed almost as quickly as they had filled the venue earlier without notice.
EXODUS was certainly deemed a success and much more will be expected for the years to follow in Jesus’ name.
