MENDED HEARTS
THE ALPHA CONVENT OF MERCY LEG OF THE PURITY TOUR
“Let me take you to the mender of broken hearts ….. he will heal you and make you whole again” Fred Hammond.
The Alpha leg of the tour was the final school in the Purity Tour but the excitement and energy displayed by the team was the same as when they had started two weeks ago. The group at Alpha was smaller that the other schools as only the fifth formers were present. The girls were quiet and attentive and participated in the praise and worship and listened attentively as Alicia from “CVM at Sunrise” shared with them about the value of saving themselves for marriage and that they were fearfully and wonderfully made.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit was very strong in the auditorium as the team members stood around the auditorium like warriors covering the proceedings in prayer. Alicia used the analogy of shoes to demonstrate how sex outside of marriage could leave to tattered and broken. She asked for 4 volunteers: a girl with new shoes, one whose shoes were dirty, one whose were almost destroyed and one that was very very tattered. She asked them to line up in order of newest to oldest and then said that the one with the cleanest shoe represented a girl when she was a virgin and used the other shoes to show how one looks after repeated sex before marriage-“ when you shoes cant even wear again you need a shoemaker; that shoemaker is Jesus.” She then made an alter call for those who need a shoemaker to redeem them and make them whole. This call saw the altar full as many girls came weeping asking for prayer. After a brief time of ministry, Joanna and Ruth-Ann sang “Standing in your grace” by 1NC which literally broke down strong holds over the girls. The girls who had not come to accept Jesus were now crying and there were few dry eyes in the room.
Undoubtedly, the spirit of God was present at Alpha and the small group setting allowed the team to pray with girls individually and with teachers as well. It was a wonderful end to this Purity Tour and was an encouragement to all involved.
