PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS
THE ST.HUGH’S LEG OF THE PURTITY TOUR
The St. Hugh’s leg of the purity tour began promptly in a small, dusty gymnasium at 7:30 am. The team convened for a time of prayer, with instructions to begin warfare in praise ,which continued as the girls lined up in the gymnasium under the instruction of the teachers. The lower school girls (grades 7-9) were only able to fit in the gymnasium, while the upper school girls (grades 10-13) were subjected to the warm morning son.
Despite the minor discomforts the programme began with an introduction of the team by Anna-Lisa Walcott (team leader) and a short period of praise and worship with the girls singly lustily. After which, there was a Testimony given by Ruth-Ann Simpson and a dance by Katherine Fletcher. Ruth-Ann used the analogy of a ball to describe the unstoppable progression of physical relationships once they begin without any boundaries- “once the ball is thrown it must fall down, it cannot stop in mid air”. She encouraged them to abstain from unguided physical relationships and encouraged them to wait for marriage. Chevelle Franklyn, then took the stage amidst the loud chatter and distraction, to encourage the girls too consider the fact that each girl is fearfully and wonderfully made. The tour bookmarks were handed out and the session closed with prayer and the girls dismissed.
In the natural, it may have appeared that this leg of the tour was ineffective because of the indiscipline displayed by some of the girls. However, with eyes of the spirit one was sensitive to the tremendous strongholds that were being broken as the word went forth. Following the session a few girls came weeping asking for prayer and to respond to the invitation for salvation that Ruth-Ann had given. These occurrences confirmed the fact that strongholds were broken over girl’s lives and the seed of the Gospel has been planted.
