Money, Girls, Cars! …What You Know Bout That!
My life was one of such glamour and excitement that I believed that I had it all even before I started the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
My twin and I were national representatives for Jamaica in table tennis, and I had won numerous trophies personally, and as representative for Calabar High School and Excelsior Community College in Jamaica. I got much ‘ratings’ from guys since I had been involved with several fine (gorgeous) girls. My brother and I had a wicked car sound system that made all the girls go crazy wild. I was very involved with a well known heavy metal band group, of course I had ‘nuff’ friends and was in all the ‘popular groups’.
At the time although I was only 19 years old my girlfriend was living with me. I was also beginning to model locally.
In truth, my life before Christianity was all about me, my future, my status. I really was content and was confident I had a lifestyle most people my age envied.
I focused on the acceptance of my friends, and getting rich. I was doing well, sports, and scholastically, and enjoyed the benefits of family’s ability to fund my extravagant lifestyle.
Life Turned On Me
I knew about Jesus Christ as a boy; I had grown up in the Anglican Church, got confirmed and even opted to become an altar boy at thirteen. After I started playing table tennis though, I just decided to forget church so I could focus on my game.
Life turned on me. I got ill, and was diagnosed with a spinal tumour. Me- I was the guy with the athletic history who never had an illness before. Even my doctors thought it was only fatigue from my intense training over the years.
Just When I thought I was Alright
I was hospitalized in the King’s County Hospital in New York City. On Christmas Eve 1997, when most people were opening presents, the doctors were opening me up. The doctors had to cut inside my spine to remove the benign tumour located there. Things turned from bad to worse, because on top of having the tumour removed, I was left paralysed – and without the ability to walk. I was in the hospital for months racking up a bill of over US$250,000, and even the right side of my body was paralysed.
So it happened that I was now forced to think about my life. It didn’t take long into the examining of my life that I realized I had lost all ability to help myself. Broken, confused, humiliated…I made a deal with God that if he healed me I would do anything he wanted.
…But Imagine the Impossible
Well not too long after, some Pastor guy who I don’t even know today, came and prayed for me. It was weird, this guy came ‘speaking in tongues,’ and though I never met him in my life yet he started telling me all me about myself; that I used to travel and play sports for my country. He told me that God has a plan for me and that I should rise up and walk today.
“I encourage you to get up and walk before tomorrow, or else you may never get up.” He said to me as he left.
I was scared. If I were to fall I would‘ve done immeasurable damage to my spine, would’ve been forcibly ‘strapped down’ by the hospital and probably would have destroyed the possibility of ever walking again.
But I just had to do it. I was convinced it was God. I told my family to make a line on both sides of me and I walked. I walked about 100 feet for the first time in months. My life has not been the same since! No Longer About Me
After my making that commitment to fully trust in, rely on and follow Jesus Christ with my life, I was radically changed. Even now, my desires and attitudes are more focused on pleasing God and serving others rather than living for my own success. I now I have true hope, inner peace, and (joy) that feeling of comfort and security just knowing that I’m always loved an accepted by God.
Now, I am committed to motivating others to commit their lives to Jesus Christ that their lives may be pleasing to God.

This website is proving God’s miraculous ability to do the LITERALLY impossible. Sheldon this Testimony is one of your greatest gift; more precious than LIFE or silver and gold. But most amazingly, it cannot even be compared toSalvation- the greatest miracle of all. How the savior can really forgive us of our sins even though we have sinned against Him and hurt His feelings. Thanks you-all for your encouragement and kind words. I know sometimes when persons hear of my miraculous experience it seems so exciting, but this is nothing compared to the greatest miracle in life obtained by accepting Jesus Christ. They are so many who have received tangible miracles from God who have forsaken him. Recall Israel I am not sure whether there was a greater time to experience the awesome power of God like in those days …the 10 plagues, parting of the sea, manna, water gushing from the rock, God speaking from the mountain accompanied by fire and lightning, 10 commandments, Moses’ face shining, etc and do you remember their demise? So in the end it really is about a personal walk of intimacy with Jesus!

Man…Thats serious!! Your Testimony, again reaffirms my gratitude to God…Not too long ago I too thought all was well and dandi! Man I was in “church,” still yet God saw it fit to give my young life an interuption!!I crashed and flipped several times…Fortunately I wasn’t hurt too bad, I’ve recovered from the accident, and I struggle from time to time, but I know God has a purpose for my life and by his strength I’ll live it out!!Blessup man
