Luke Quamina
Luke Quamina, is a truly exemplary yute. Fiwivoice.com was determined to interview him, after hearing his Testimony, and hearing of his work on the Extreme Impact Jamaican School Tour. This Trinidadian young man, is a powerful speaker and singer. Two of his songs can be heard in the Fiwivoice.com Audio section. [soon]

Luke Kuamina ministering on the Extreme Impact Jamaican School Tour
FV: Tell us about your relationship with Extreme Impact?
LQ: Well, I really started with Extreme probably about two years now, through meeting pastor Bruce Fletcher, in Trinidad speaking at the San Fernando Open Bible Church, my home church. He witnessed the Ministry of Koen Duncan, and I just came out to say a few things in the conference and he met us then. He said, “would you all come to Jamaica and share in some ministry with us?” Now, we always do ministry in the school’s in Trinidad and so we decided Yes, we would come up and this is our second visit.
Well, I really started with Extreme probably about two years now, through meeting pastor Bruce Fletcher, in Trinidad speaking at the San Fernando Open Bible Church, my home church. He witnessed the Ministry of Koen Duncan, and I just came out to say a few things in the conference and he met us then. He said, “would you all come to Jamaica and share in some ministry with us?” Now, we always do ministry in the school’s in Trinidad and so we decided Yes, we would come up and this is our second visit.FV: When was your first?
LQ: Our first was this year (2006), April And we come back the second time this year- we were at several schools last time, this time we managed to do a school tour, about 21 schools to share the Gospel in a creative, relevant way in Music and motivational speaking to the young people.
FV: How did you get saved?
LQ: I got saved- my parents are ministers, pastors. Grew up in the church, but you know people say ‘grow up in the church but that still don’t mean saved.’ At 16 years I really made a conscious decision to serve Christ. I went to a conference in the Bahamas- Myles Munroe, Youth of Life and thats when I decided to really get saved. So I got saved at that point and since then been no turning back.
FV: What do you think the essential message to young people today needs to be?
LQ: We need to return to some basics, things that may seem boring but which are really essential for our life living. Relationship with elders, relationship with parents is critical, youth need guidance and we have to accept that. We need the knowledge of the age, but there is a gap that needs to be closed by relationships, that is our biggest struggle right now. So we can get that information- a lot of elders are very disappointed and ashamed of how young people are so a lot of them have given up on really reaching out to youth. And I think 1), young people have to get back to that place of really being covered, guided by the elders and 2), it starts off with a solid personal devoted relationship with Christ and letting that relationship produce the kind of behaviour, attitude and lifestyle that is appropriate for good and successful living amongst each other and in the nations at large.

FV: So you are saying that there is a place for Christianity and personal commitment to God in our society today that needs to be emphasised?
LQ: Yes. We have great challenges to that now because of how volatile the culture is- its in your face, the drug is in your face, the party is in your face, the movies are in your face. All those things are very upfront and personal but the Truth has not been. So I always believe when truth is silent error prevails and too long error has been prevailing, not because of a lack of truth but because truth has been silent. So one of our goals is really to come out and be bold. Why are we going to the schools and learning institutions? Because we have found young people who are not ashamed to say that we’re standing for the right. What have we realized? When young people see somebody that they can identify with making a positive stand, they not afraid to follow. So we have a great following who says that ‘We are going to make a stand’ and its bigger than a religion, bigger than Extreme Impact- its a about young people knowing what they’re called for and deciding to reach out to their peers and others and saying ‘Lets make this stand together.
FV: This experience in Jamaica, what do you take from it?
LQ: Man Jamaica has been a great experience. When you live outside Jamaica all of the negative things you hear, the murder rate, the killing all of that- but the people are beautiful.
When we went to Trench Town, you know, a rough area like that as rough as it is there were loving people in there who just wanted somebody to hear them out, listen them and identify with them. Jamaica’s culture, I admire the people’s motivation for life, they’re very ambitious. I think that a lot of the young people are very strong in whatever they believe, whether they believe in God and in Christ or in something else. So I think they should use those things that are naturally apart of the culture to progress them in a good direction; meaning, be aggressive, be ambitious in the things of God.
Jamaica as a whole, the inner city communities, the church have to come together and do it as a corporate effort, no one church trying to reach out to a whole community. If the church comes together and do it as a corporate effort and really change around the inner-city communities- that’s a good place to start, and I believe that there will be a momentum and a wave of blessing and success will come. And the young people will have something positive to identify with, because what has happened is Jamaica has a lot of artistes and icons out there but they have already set a path that’s negative and now they want to come and say positive words. It has not worked because people have known their lives before, and although they want to say “Yute, put down the guns” now, they were preaching guns for a lot of years and ‘gangsta’, and ‘dancehall’ and ‘do this’ and ‘have sex’ and all that thing- so it is hard for them now to pull back the message.
So we are saying, we need a new blood on the block to rise up with a pure message, from the start- from the very start, and be consistent with that throughout.

LOL thats exactly wat i was saying Dee-Dee Luke would acctually wouldnt like it
July 25th, 2008 at 7:02 am
oh you mean that he would not like that comment, because I mean thats puting him in a catagory with God, and I wouldn’t do that for anyone!!! yeah what was his Testimony?
July 25th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
yeh thats wat i meant, oops typo
um his Testimony ranges from when he truely found God in his teens after being a naughty pastors kid to him being engaged to a woman he really believed God wanted him to marry and 1 month b4 the wedding God revealed to him that her father who was also a pastor was doing something wrong and he confronted him on it and the father said if he didnt take back what he said and forget it he couldnt marry the daughter so he called off the wedding and went through a really ruff time and then got back on track with God and now ministers all over the world…. the tesimony obviously has more to it than that but thats it in a tiny nutshell
July 25th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Oh I see, that pastor needs deliverence, could he not admit he had a problem, wow!!! God really did save him this luke guy, pastors must be careful when dealing with Gods anointed especially if that pastor in SIN!!!

I really agree with Luke when he says ” when truth is silent error prevails “. Just today I am coming home in the taxi, and its like I see all other religions/truths becoming more prominent in making known what they believe in. And yes the essential is definately ensuring as youths we get the basics espec. in our relationships. At my home church this year the theme for Youth Convention was “Live Out Loud”, you know be a witness for God, in your daily living, and make a stand in the face of an opposing world culture. The Convention also highlighted the importance of youths respecting their elders. (Lev 19:32 ¶ Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I [am] the LORD. ) And a major point, was that much of the stuff happening today is due to a lack of reverence for elders, a lack of reverence for God.
How long will we be silent? Is there not a cause?
July 26th, 2008 at 10:01 am
Sydelle girl I think we could really get along.
I see a vast need for youths to rise up! When ministering to the youth so many of them are crying for examples ( young people who are truely living for GOD.) There are so many young adults struggling, and coming for deliverance, but unfortunataly the youth that are suppose to be ministers are afraid of ministering, why because of truth. I deal with this on a regular bases as a minister and deliverance is serious, too many youth are in need of help for us to remain silent. I totally agree to much silence is deadly, and this is the time we are living in, people who are walkin zombies (dead spiritually) yet there still in church, and there even members. Girl there is so much to say, yes we need to pray!!!

You know what hurts, that so many youths want exemplary leaders and so many of us fail them.Look at the pastor who was chraged for 30 counts of buggery, ye that may be bad, but how many of us aretruly holy as youth leaders? How many of us, could truly be transparent and not ashamed,so that a child or a teen could see that it is possible. Tis thought rocks me, everso often, as at times I forget that we as believers should be walking BIbles, so that without speaking our life ministers, both in dark and light. I have failed so much have you?
Let us be true examples of who God wants, plz so many depend on it…. God wants this from us too.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:59 am
Georgia,
Its true so many have failed, and yes I will include myself. Now its time to come out of the past and hasten to the future and be transparent with each other. This is the only way people are going to get help!! I choose not to be reliant on the past because the enemy wants me to stay there, yet it has helped me with my present. We all need to choose to push past what we feel and do what Jesus would do.

Luke, keep up the good work around Trinidad and in the world. The youths of Trinidad support you because you are a rolemodel to them. For example, look at the messages being posted on this site. See you at the SFOB Youth Convention… take care and God bless buddy!

God Bless, to all of you who continue to be blessed by God’s word. I want you to know that its God that takes a nobody and makes them a somebody. That’s my Testimony as I continue to just surrender to His will. I humbly accept your encouragement and may we all know that all glory belongs to God. I understood what you meant Deana as it could easily be misunderstood. I understand what you wanted to say. Anyways God bless and may we all continue to be available to Him

Luke is a wonderful person; so very spiritual and most of all influential. I believe that his words are that of great dissapointment and willingness to make a difference. He made mention of the silence of the truth which i totally agree to agree with. Too much of the time we are faced with pornography, sex, gangs, killings, rapes; and all sorts of negative, ungodly things; on the media - tv, internet - and we tend to get little if any, positive messages. i will agree also with Luke, that if all those negatives would be taken over by positives, our world will be full of Godly men and women who would not b ashamed to stand up for God. It is so dissappointing all what society has made us believe. For one, young men find themselves in a place of pride where they think that they are not made to cry. SOCIETY. With such an attitude, it is impossible to them to cry their hearts out to God, therfore leaving them so far away from God and His devine purpose for them.
Inspite of all what i have said, we as believers must set the example. We need to show those young people how much God can change. For some reason they hear this all the time but still tend to keeep themselves captive and the enemy is using this to bring condemnation all the time. Are we prepared to live our lives like an open book so that these people can see where God can take them from and to? Too many times we preach that Christianity is living a perfect life. We need to let people know it as it is. There are going to be difficulties, problems, trials, but the most wonderful truth is that we have Christ who can see us through. We have someone who cares for us so much that he is willing to forgive us our sins and erase it from His memory.
There is nothing more worth it, absolutely nothing.
