Jason Mighty is all smiles as hes tells FiwiVoice about his plans.

What do you think is your major hit so far?
Well my major hit is world changer.
World changer?
Yeah, cause I never even know. Is yesterday I was talking to Prodigal and he was saying “my yute World Changer a tear down America, tear down Canada.” Cause World Changer is #1 in Canada, it get #1producing song for the year in Canada, it is at #1 at the top 10 in Canada, and it just… is 3 categories it win in Canada, so World Changer a tear down the place.

But I can say that world changer inspire me. Once you hear world changers you just waan go all out for God and see how you can help change the world. Trust me. And will that be the name of your album as well?
Well ahm, in fact early last year I wanted to call the album that, but the more you grow and more God give you vision things kinda change, and I don’t think so.
Because I heard it…
Yeah I said that, because that was strongly inside of me at the time. But now I’ve been through a lot of stuff, God give me a lot of vision. I want a stronger name than World Changers.

So do you have a name that you would like to tell us?
Well I’m not sure yet because I’m kind of contemplating the name right now because as I said before I get a lot of vision, and a lot of things that i am struggling with. But mi a seek god underneath. So i will leave that for now.

Of all the songs that you have recorded what would you say is your favourite?
Well record you said, but my favourite is not recorded as yet. But the one that I have recorded so far is World Changer. I love to sing that song.

What would be the favourite of those not recorded?
Well it’s a worship song that the lord birth through me through personal experience. The name of the song is called ‘May your power fill this place’. It’s a powerful worship song that the lord blessed me with and I love that song dearly. I love to sing it.
Listen Here(coming soon).
What would you say to a Christian who is really struggling to accept the whole idea of Gospel Reggae, someone who thinks this kind of Music is really conforming to the world’s standards?

Well just the other day me and Nicholas and our booking agency were at a panel discussion and the discussion was “If all type of Music glorify God?” That was the theme of the discussion. And what I found out, a lot of people, their biggest turn off on the Music that we sing is not really the sound of the Music, it’s the name. Because in the discussion people were saying “the name, the name, you putting reggae to the church Music now, the Gospel doesn’t change”. So we realize that people have an issue with the name” Gospel Reggae”. They are saying that the Gospel doesn’t change. So we come together now and we want to change the name of the Music. Gospel-using the method of reggae. That’s the name that we are trying to come up with. It’s not conformed as yet but we’re coming there. So we want to change the name to something like Gospel-using the format of reggae.
Because Gospel is really Gospel. It’s the method that you use…
The method, the method change.

But I’d still like for you to say something stronger, because I have friends who want to literally say that this is “Devil Music”, because we using this kinda beat, and dat kinda beat. They think we need fi sing a slower kinda thing.
Well alright let me tell you. The truth is, what a lot of people don’t understand is that God’s ways doesn’t change; but God’s methods always change. If you notice how God, if you read the Bible Old Testament, New Testament come right down you will notice that God does not change but the way how God bring across a message is not the same all the while. Nicholas have this saying that him always say “God healed 3 men”. I can remember God spit in mud and put on a man eye and heal him, God use a lot of things and heal people. Is a whole heap of things, God method that he uses is not the same all the time.

Jason irate
Jason Mighty-Getting irate while expressing himself about those people who seem to belittle Gospel reggae

So what we are doing, a lot people don’t understand, what we are doing, we are using another method to get across the Gospel to the yutes dem. Because the yutes dem, the truth and the fact is how I got saved a little ’soft’ man couldn’t come tell me ’bout Jesus. Because before I got saved I was a ruff bredda, mi did ruff, ruff, ruff. And the guy who minister the word to me. Him did have to come ruff. Him did have to come and speak. Him did have to say, “my yute know yuself, Jesus Christ died on the cross for you and you need to know yourself. You need to stop smoke weed and take out them 4 ears ring outta yu ears and stop bleach out yu hair”. A suh dat deh man would haffi come and speak to me. Him couldn’t come tell mi seh “yu know Jesus love you and…” mi hear that everyday. Mi woulda run weh dem; cause mi run weh Christian all the while. So god would haffi come sen’ a ruff bredda fi come save me.

So what I’m trying to say to the people dem who look down on reggae Gospel, dem shouldn’t look down on reggae Gospel because we are doing our part, and we are reaching who wi fi reach; and Sandra Brooks is reaching who she fi reach, George Banton a reach who him fi reach. So we who a sing a World Changer, or a Nicholas who sing ‘Pop off di word’, him a reach some yute out there….Cause everybody a reach them own target, everybody nah target the same people!
(by this time Jason Mighty was irate) Jason irate

Of course, everybody can’t target the same people, cause remember enuh, the body of Christ is not just one body. You have the hand the foot and the tail and everything. Zeen. Me might be the head, Sandra Brooks is the tail, but we are doing the same thing. At the end of the day we are saying the same thing. And the people who are bashing the Music, they are not listening to the Music, because if they are listening to the Music they would realize we are saying the same thing. We are all saying Jesus Christ is lord. That’s what we are saying.

well I found this article to be very interesting, Jason’s Views are interesting and though I agree that inorder to save some people we have to reform our methods in bringing the Gospel across; however, I dont believe that we have to compromise too much. Someone has said and I agree, that God is a loving God, and he will give us all redemption and salvation if we repent and ask for his forgiveness, but he will not drag people kicking and screaming to be saved if they dont want to be saved. Therefore, I believe that Gospel needs to be reformed, but not to the point where Gospel “reggae” artistes should be borrowing beats from those of popular Reggae artistes they should come up with their own. Make this revolution tasteful, the world should emulate Christians, we should not compromise our standards to suite the world. Christ was a world changer, he blazed his own trail, he did not follow or copy the ways of the world to reach people he did so by being himself and so the world came unto him, because he was a revolutionary and not a conformist.
