Prison Boots

  • “Go ahead Sir, here is your condom…enjoy.”

It is funny how the issue of providing prisoners with condoms has died down or become dormant for a while, until human rights activists and other pressure groups realize the potency of the consequences or when the nation is slapped with an increase in sexual offences. I promise not to be long on this but will just point out a few thoughts on the issue.

This superb idea of issuing condoms to inmates will push further the door of buggery and indecent sexual assault in the prison facilities. This would be more than a passport to engage in deviant sexual behaviour. Also, this would take away the rigidity of the prison system as some men only need sexual penetration for their lives to be considered normal, and hence would nullify the purpose of being placed behind bars, which is to deprive him of the privileges he had in society. Even though condoms would not cover much, government should take an active role in enforcing the rigidity of the penal system. If the justice system clamps down on buggery in society, then the same should be done in the prisons. After all, another aim of imprisonment is to rehabilitate, that is, to possibly socialize the inmate, to prepare him again for the outside world where buggery is not only immoral but a criminal offence.

  • Is there any hope for Jamaica?

  • Jamaica has been dubbed the “murder capital of the world” after 2005 saw more than 1,600 murders. Our little island had 60 murders per 100,000 inhabitants and this compares with Colombia on 46 and South Africa on 43. The island has become a major transshipment point for drugs travelling from South America, and finding a [...]

  • PG: Dynamic Sex

  • One common desire for married couples is to have a dynamic sex life. Dynamic sex is sex that is changing for the better, which involves the participation of both partners. The media portrays sex to be very rewarding, good and possibly makes viewers want to engage in this activity. An important question asked by many age old couples is this, ‘Can a poor sexual relationship be cured by effective technique?’

As you might know, sex is more than a physical activity. It calls for the interaction of mind and body. The mind is where the emotional centre is and is geared up by qualities such as love, communication, selflessness, commitment, trust and above all else Christ. Love is the first gear for maximum sex which must be unconditional. Conditional love grows on appearance, opportunities, and materialism. Unconditional love takes the focus away from performance and more on the required mental elements.

Maximum sex flourishes in the institution of marriage, where the activity becomes dynamic by loving the person unconditionally; satisfying the person in spite of…Sex with different persons does not make it dynamic but different. So, stay within that holy institute to make your sex life dynamic and if your single and have not started…wait, sex will come when your married, a venture you will never regret when you get started.

  • Spurious church or wah?

  • Already the nation has been faced with issues concerning child sexual offences and the effectiveness of the country’s penal system. Every pillar of society has a role to play in the alleviation of crime in Jamaica. This means that country men ought to work along with the arms of government as well as police officers and officials to control crime. The church is no exception to this, but it has been proved to be one pillar on which much responsibility should be exemplified. For a church to defend a deacon and offend the person who provided the relevant authority with information leading to the arrest of the deacon is heartbreaking and disgusting to many genuine Christians.

  • OK, let’s reinvent the wheel!

  • Damion Thomson’s article entitled “Whom to Believe?” is of particular intrigue, but not because of its originality or conspicuous reasoning; On the contrary, it sounds like the main argument of every genious suddenly finds a loop hole through disciplines of religeon. But the lack of application, not so much the question, seems very out-of-place in our [...]

  • Whom to Believe?

  • If there is a God, why are their so many religions in this world?
If there is a God, why are their so many denominations; based on one basic truth/philosophy, reading and studying one book, and telling one simple but rather complex story?
For a while now I have been agonizing over these questions, so as to [...]
